Marketing 2011: Letter to Staff, Past and Present
Dear Colleague,
Celebrating 40 years of Pioneering Leadership in Marketing Education
The Department of Marketing of the University of Strathclyde Business School will mark the 40th anniversary of its founding in 2011.
We plan to use the occasion of this milestone to:
- celebrate our pioneering role in advancing marketing education and scholarship in the UK and internationally; and
- reconnect and strengthen our links with you and other members of the Department’s family.
The activities planned for next year include:
- “A weekend with the Department” (June 10-12, 2011), featuring:
- home coming visits to the Stenhouse Building;
- a practice-relevant workshop on leading-edge Marketing topics (to be made available online);
- a golf tournament at Ross Priory; and
- a celebratory dinner at the iconic Òran Mór banquet hall in Glasgow West End.
- Alumni-organised Chapter events around the world (all year);
- Weekly spotlight on selected Alumni/ex-staff in designated Departmental websites (all year);
- A book of memories of Departmental alumni and staff, past and present;
- A Special Panel on the History of Marketing Education and Strathclyde’s role there in at the UK Academy of Marketing 2011 Conference in Liverpool (July 2011); and
- Hosting of the 2011 Industrial Marketing and Purchasing Group Conference by the Department (Sept. 2011).
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of these planned activities and invite you to join us in all or some of these activities. We would also like to encourage you to use every appropriate platform during 2011 (e.g. your local Conference dinner) to toast the Department and inform the wider community of its milestone. Do remember to let us know of any such ‘shout out’ as we would like to record this appropriately.
Further relevant information will be circulated in due course, but do visit our dedicated Marketing 2011 website or the Department’s website for regular updates. If you’ve not already joined the Marketing 2011 LinkedIn Group, please do so here.
We look forward to seeing you in Glasgow in June 2011 or interacting with you in other ways in the months ahead.
Yours Sincerely
Professor Kevin Ibeh, Head, Department of Marketing
Professor Stan Paliwoda, Co-Chair, Marketing 2011 Committee
